Laser Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses advanced Class IV laser technology to accelerate the body’s natural healing process through photobiostimulation. By delivering targeted light energy deep into tissue, laser therapy helps reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling while promoting tissue repair and recovery.
Laser Therapy is effective for treating both acute and chronic conditions, as well as post-surgical pain, making it a powerful complement to physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and other hands-on treatments.

More about our Laser Therapy services:
Class IV Laser Therapy
Active Sports Therapy uses Class IV LightForce® Laser Therapy to help accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Class IV lasers deliver higher energy levels that penetrate deeper into tissue in less time, allowing for more effective treatment of both superficial and deep musculoskeletal conditions.
This higher power enables faster treatment sessions and improved outcomes that are not achievable with low-power lasers. LightForce® laser technology offers exceptional versatility, making it effective for reducing pain, decreasing inflammation, and supporting tissue healing across a wide range of conditions.
What is Laser Therapy?
Laser Therapy is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses focused light energy to stimulate healing at the cellular level through a process called photobiomodulation (PBM).
During PBM, light energy penetrates the tissue and interacts with mitochondria inside the cells, triggering a biological response that increases cellular metabolism. This process can help reduce pain, decrease muscle spasm, improve circulation, and support tissue repair.
Laser Therapy is FDA-cleared and provides a safe, non-pharmacological option for pain relief and healing.
How Does it Work?
Laser Therapy works by delivering therapeutic light within specific wavelengths that stimulate photobiomodulation. These wavelengths interact with light-sensitive molecules (chromophores) in the tissue, triggering beneficial photochemical and photophysical responses without generating heat.
This process helps: • Increase cellular energy production • Reduce inflammation and pain • Improve blood flow and oxygen delivery • Accelerate tissue repair and regeneration
Modern research now uses the term photobiomodulation therapy (PBM) to describe this process, replacing older terms such as cold laser or low-level laser therapy. PBM has been shown to positively influence pain, inflammation, and tissue healing in both acute and chronic conditions.
When is Laser Therapy Used?
Laser Therapy is used to treat both acute and chronic conditions, as well as to support post-activity and post-surgical recovery. It is commonly used as a non-invasive alternative or complement to medication, and in some cases may help delay or reduce the need for surgical intervention.
Laser Therapy is also effective before and after surgery to help manage pain, reduce swelling, and support tissue healing.
The Science Behind Photobiomodulation
Scientific research supports that delivering an appropriate therapeutic dose of light to injured or dysfunctional tissue produces a cellular response mediated by mitochondrial activity. These responses can lead to measurable improvements in pain, inflammation, circulation, and tissue repair.
When applied correctly, photobiomodulation therapy supports the body’s natural healing mechanisms and enhances recovery without the need for medication or invasive procedures.
Efficacy
Laser Therapy supports your body’s natural healing process by stimulating a series of beneficial cellular responses in the treated tissue. During treatment, most patients experience a gentle, soothing warmth, which signals the start of increased cellular activity and improved circulation in the area.
This therapeutic response continues for 18 to 24 hours following treatment, helping to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and promote tissue healing. Many patients begin to notice improvement within three to five short treatment sessions, depending on the condition being treated.

I have been seeing Dr, Finan for Chiropractic Treatment and Michelle for Physiotherapy for over 10 years with AST. They are always kind and informative, they really care about your health and well-being and they do whatever it takes to get you there. Both are so patient and they never address your symptoms without some education to go along with why you might feel the way to do and what you can do to help the process.
